Social sharing features

This video shows how you can link your Newsweaver account to Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter and how to automatically publish an issue to your social networks.

Social sharing is available in the ‘Send’ tab.
To activate social sharing do the following:
- Click into the ‘Send’ tab and then into the ‘Social Sharing’ sub tab.

- On the window that opens the option to create connections between the account and the following social network sites are shown:

The following example creates a link between the Newsweaver account and Twitter.
To create a link between the Newsweaver account and any of the sites above click on the connect option.

The next page shows explains the next step and displays some security information about creating this link.
Click on the Link to Twitter option.

A page opens where the link to Twitter needs to be finalised. You will need to log into the Twitter account in question in order to complete the link.

Click on the Authorize app button to establish the link.
Once the link is established the Status on the ‘Share on Twitter’ button becomes Active.

Facebook/Linkedin
To create a link between a Newsweaver account and Facebook or LinkedIn you should begin by following the steps as outlined above. When creating the link between the Newsweaver and the Facebook or linked in account you should follow the instructions on screen. Please note that if you are creating a link to a Facebook account that has more than one page you will be asked to choose which page you will be sharing to. This is likely to be your business page.
Sharing
Once the links to Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter are created, the published link of an issue can be shared to appear on a Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter page.
Underneath the Active links, the ‘Sharing to’ option appears.
Tick the tick box next to the pages you will share to.
In the text box, type in the text to appear with the published link when posted. There is a limit of 140 characters for the post. This limit includes the characters of the published link.
Click on the ‘Insert Link’ option to add the published link of the selected issue to the text box.

Once the text post is finalised, click to share.
The message is posted on the pages selected.

Once the post is shared, the status the date and the message of the post are displayed under ‘History’.

Publish to Social during Send
An issue can be published to Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter pages during a send.
To enable this option two things need to be in place:
- The link between the Social Network sites and the Newsweaver account needs to be established. Please see ‘Social Sharing’ above to view instructions on to create this.
- The option to ‘Socially publish during send’ has to be active on the publication.
To activate the ‘Socially publish during send’ option do the following:
- Click into the ‘Admin’ tab and ‘Publication Settings’ subtab.
- Click the option ‘Edit Settings’ at the top of the page.
- Scroll down the page to the option ‘Socially publish during send’.
- Tick the tick box to activate.

- At the bottom of the publication settings page, click the ‘Save’ button, to complete.
- With step 1 and 2 above in place the option to publish to social network pages during a send will appear.
- Click onto the ‘Send’ tab.
- On the ‘Send Email’ sub-tab, set the Email Settings for the mailing.
- Click on ‘Next’ to proceed with the send.

- The next page displays the options for ‘Social Sharing’.
- Select the Social Network sites to share to, by ticking the tick box.
- The subject line is automatically set as the text for the post. To change, type over the text in the text box.

- Click ‘Next’ to proceed to ‘Review Settings’.
- On the ‘Review Settings’ page, check that the settings for sending the email are correct.
- On this page, ‘Share on’ shows the site(s) that the newsletter will be published to when sent.

Click ‘Send Issue Now’ to send the newsletter and to publish to the selected social network sites.
